Daniel Ullom, EIT, M.S.

Daniel Ullom is an environmental engineer whose work combines water resources engineering, sustainable site design, green infrastructure, and ecological restoration. Daniel joined Blue Earth Engineering in 2019 and has contributed to a diverse range of projects through engineering design, water system modeling, technical research, field surveying, permitting, and engineering CAD.

Daniel has worked with Blue Earth on projects throughout Western North Carolina, including the Lake Susan restoration and dredging project in Montreat, Terra Futura Eco-Village in Asheville, and the Light-En Center in Madison County. His work reflects a particular interest in projects that integrate engineering with ecological function, sustainability, and community needs.

Daniel earned his B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Washington in 2014 and later returned to the University of Washington to earn his M.S. in Environmental Engineering. His graduate education further developed his technical background in environmental systems and complemented the practical engineering experience he had gained in both Washington State and North Carolina.

Prior to joining Blue Earth, Daniel gained experience in civil engineering design, drafting, and permitting for water, sewer, stormwater, wastewater, and water-supply systems in Western North Carolina. Earlier in his career, he worked on a light-rail tunnel project in Seattle, performing construction quality assurance, field data collection, and coordination with engineers, surveyors, inspectors, and construction personnel. His background also includes undergraduate and graduate research at the University of Washington.

Daniel brings to Blue Earth a strong commitment to using engineering in service of environmentally sustainable and socially responsible communities. His interests extend beyond his professional work to bicycle and pedestrian advocacy, urban planning, and community organizing, as well as Old-Time and Bluegrass music.
