Carrie Jensen, PhD

Carrie Jensen is an Earth scientist specializing in hydrology and geospatial analysis. Originally from northeast Georgia, she received her B.S. in Geography and B.A. in Spanish from the University of Georgia in 2011. Carrie remained at the University of Georgia to complete her M.S. in Geography in 2013 and attended Virginia Tech for her Ph.D. in Geospatial and Environmental Analysis, finishing in 2018. For her dissertation, she mapped and modeled headwater stream length dynamics at seasonal to storm-event scales across the Appalachian Highlands. Her academic interests and expertise include temporary stream hydrology, fluvial geomorphology, geographic information science (GIS), geospatial modeling, statistics, and data analysis and visualization. In addition to her background in research, Carrie also contributes experience from her work in the environmental non-profit and outdoor recreation sectors.
